Requires public schools and higher education institutions (including NCAA, NAIA, MHSAA, and NJCCA members) to designate athletic teams as "males/men/boys," "females/women/girls," or "coed/mixed" based on biological sex

Prohibits students of male sex from participating on athletic teams designated for females, women, or girls

Shields schools and institutions from complaints, investigations, or adverse actions by government entities, licensing/accrediting organizations, or athletic associations for maintaining sex-separated female teams

Creates a private cause of action for any student deprived of athletic opportunity or harmed by violations of the act

Effective date of July 1, 2021
