Extends nonreemployment notice requirements to teacher assistants, requiring written notice stating reasons by April 15 or within ten days after the Governor approves the education budget, whichever is later.

Provides teacher assistants with the right to written notice of specific reasons for nonreemployment, including a summary of facts, witness list, and documentary evidence at least 14 days before any hearing.

Grants teacher assistants the opportunity for a fair and impartial hearing before the school board or hearing officer, with the right to be represented by legal counsel at their own expense.

Requires teacher assistants requesting a hearing to submit a written response, witness list, and supporting documentation at least five days before the scheduled hearing date; failure to do so makes the nonreemployment recommendation final without a hearing.

Takes effect July 1, 2021.
