Notes that approximately 1 in 700 babies is born with Down syndrome, representing about 6,000 births per year in the United States

Recognizes the National Down Syndrome Society as the leading human rights organization working to help individuals with Down syndrome realize their life aspirations and become valued community members

Affirms that early intervention, education, social support, therapeutic care, and positive public attitudes improve chances for independent, productive lives

Directs the resolution be forwarded to the National Down Syndrome Society, Mississippi Coalition for Individuals with Disabilities, and Mississippi Department of Mental Health
