Adds definitions to Section 97-37-1 for "antique firearm," "firearm," "imitation firearm," and "short barreled shotgun (or rifle)" for purposes of concealed carry violations.

Modifies Section 97-37-1(1) to require that the concealed carrying of prohibited weapons must occur "in the commission of a crime" to constitute a violation.

Excludes BB guns, air rifles, air pistols, and bowie or folding knives from the felony firearm possession prohibition in Section 97-37-5(1).

Removes bowie knives and switchblade knives from the list of weapons prohibited for felons to possess in Section 97-37-5(1).

Creates a misdemeanor option (up to $2,500 fine or 1 year county jail) for violations of the felon firearm possession statute, in addition to existing felony penalties (up to $5,000 fine or 1-10 years in state prison).

Effective July 1, 2022.
