Requires all individual and group health insurance policies, HMOs, and self-insured plans in Mississippi to cover obesity and morbid obesity treatments, including bariatric surgery, gastric bypass, lap band surgery, and prescriptions

Coverage applies to individuals with a body mass index 30% or more above ideal body weight when a physician provides written documentation that treatment is medically necessary

Prohibits insurers from imposing deductibles or coinsurance for obesity treatment greater than those established for similar benefits

Mandates that reimbursement rates to healthcare providers for obesity treatment equal or exceed Medicare reimbursement rates

Effective date of July 1, 2022
