Amends Mississippi Code Section 43-13-115 to add a new category (28) of Medicaid eligibility for individuals under 65 years old, not pregnant, and not entitled to Medicare benefits whose income does not exceed 133% of the federal poverty level.

Eligible individuals under this new category receive benchmark coverage or benchmark equivalent coverage as defined under Section 1937 of the federal Social Security Act.

The Division of Medicaid determines eligibility for individuals covered under this provision and must apply for any necessary waivers from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

This expansion is authorized under the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The act takes effect July 1, 2022.
