Removes the prohibition against adoption by same-sex couples from Section 93-17-3 of the Mississippi Code by striking the language that stated "Adoption by couples of the same gender is prohibited."

Maintains all other existing adoption requirements and procedures, including home study requirements, Interstate Compact for Placement of Children compliance, and Indian Child Welfare Act compliance.

Allows adoption by unmarried adults, married persons, and married persons whose spouses do not join the petition, provided the court determines adoption is in the best interest of the child.

Effective date is July 1, 2022.
