• Establishes licensure and regulation of anesthesiologist assistants by the State Board of Medical Licensure, requiring graduation from an accredited program and passage of a certification examination.

• Anesthesiologist assistants may practice only under the supervision of a licensed anesthesiologist and may perform only duties delegated by the supervising anesthesiologist.

• Specifies 27 delegable duties including airway management, anesthesia administration, intravenous line placement, epidural and spinal anesthesia, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

• Board may issue temporary licenses valid for up to one year to program graduates who have not yet passed certification examination, with requirement to take next available exam.
