HB 530 Summary

• Increases minimum teacher salary scale effective 2022-2023 school year, with entry-level AAAA-licensed teachers rising from $41,608 to $45,500 and other license levels adjusted proportionally across all experience levels.

• Removes caps on the number of nationally board-certified school nurses and speech-language pathologists/audiologists eligible to receive the $6,000 annual salary supplement for national board certification.

• Adds state-licensed athletic trainers with Board Certification to employees eligible for the $6,000 annual national board certification salary supplement, effective retroactively to July 1, 2021.

• Increases minimum base salary for teacher assistants from $15,000 to $17,000 annually, effective 2022-2023 school year and thereafter.

• All salary supplements and increases paid directly by the State Department of Education to school districts as additions to adequate education program allotments rather than as part thereof.
