Amends Section 41-29-113 of the Mississippi Code to add kratom to Schedule I of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act by listing mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine (the active alkaloids in kratom) as controlled substances.

Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine are added to the stimulants category (subsection (f)) of Schedule I controlled substances.

The legislation classifies kratom alkaloids alongside other controlled stimulants and synthetic cathinones, making possession and distribution illegal in Mississippi.

Effective date is July 1, 2022.
