Establishes a 33-member task force to evaluate the feasibility of transferring public school athletic programs to municipal or county government administration.

Task force shall study cost-benefit analysis of potential savings, use of savings for teacher salary increases and education funding, local government capacity to fund athletics, and concerns about Mississippi High School Activities Association oversight.

Task force composition includes State Superintendent, legislative committee chairs, state legislators, MHSAA executive director, four mayors, four county supervisors, four athletic directors, four parent representatives, three business representatives, and four parks and recreation directors.

Task force must hold first meeting by August 15, 2022, and submit recommendations to the Legislature by January 1, 2023.

Act takes effect July 1, 2022.
