Prohibits any elected official in Mississippi from changing political party affiliation during their term of office

Defines a change in party affiliation as publicly declaring departure from the party under which the official was elected, or publicly declaring membership in a different party

Treats any change in political party affiliation as an automatic resignation from office, creating a vacancy

Requires vacancies created by party switches to be filled according to existing law for that particular office

Effective date of July 1, 2022
