Creates comprehensive legal framework for selling travel insurance in Mississippi by amending and creating new sections of Mississippi Code Title 83.

Establishes licensing requirements for limited lines travel insurance producers and travel retailers, with exemptions from examination and continuing education requirements under Chapter 17.

Defines travel insurance to include coverage for trip cancellation, baggage loss, emergency evacuation, repatriation of remains, and sickness or death during travel; excludes major medical plans for trips longer than six months.

Requires travel insurers to pay premium taxes on individual policies, group certificates, and blanket policies sold to Mississippi residents; allows filing under inland marine or accident and health lines.

Prohibits negative option enrollment, requires clear disclosure of coverage components in travel protection plans, mandates 10-15 day cancellation periods with full refunds, and designates unfair trade practices including offering policies incapable of claim payment.

Effective July 1, 2022.
