Establishes a tiered annual salary structure for local school board members effective July 1, 2022, based on student enrollment as of October 1 each fiscal year

Sets salary at $3,600 for districts with up to 5,000 students; $4,200 for 5,000-10,000 students; $4,800 for 10,000-20,000 students; $5,400 for 20,000-30,000 students; and $6,000 for districts over 30,000 students

Replaces the previous compensation system that allowed board members to choose between $67 per diem for up to 36 meetings or a flat $2,400 annual salary

School board members remain ineligible for state employee group insurance, retirement, or other fringe benefits

Members who miss 20% or more of meetings must reimburse the district a proportionate share of their annual salary
