MS SB2265

Removes the age limitation (victim's twenty-fifth birthday) for child sexual abuse victims to file compensation claims, allowing claims to be filed at any age within thirty-six (36) months after the crime is reported to law enforcement or the Department of Child Protection Services.

Increases the reporting deadline for criminally injurious conduct from seventy-two (72) hours to one hundred twenty (120) hours after occurrence, or longer if good cause exists for delayed reporting.

Updates terminology from "Department of Human Services" to "Department of Child Protection Services" in the crime victims' compensation statute.

Effective July 1, 2022.
