MS SB2299

Prohibits municipal executive committee members and primary election officials appointed by the municipal executive committee from campaigning for, fundraising for, contributing to, endorsing, or supporting any candidate whose name appears on the municipal primary election ballot.

Makes violation of the campaigning prohibition a misdemeanor with punishment as provided in Section 99-19-31 and requires removal from the violator's primary election position upon conviction.

Applies the same prohibition and penalties to temporary municipal executive committee members.

Amends Section 25-1-115 to codify the campaigning prohibition and clarifies disqualifications for serving on executive committees, including those convicted of election crimes or felonies.

Takes effect July 1, 2022.
