Secretary of State shall promulgate regulations for review, certification, decertification, and implementation of all voting systems, subject to State Board of Election Commissioners approval and comment.

All optical mark recognition (OMR) equipment must comply with certification standards published by the Secretary of State for any election held after January 1, 2024.

All direct recording electronic (DRE) units must comply with certification standards published by the Secretary of State for any election held after January 1, 2024.

Existing requirements for voting equipment remain in place, including capabilities for voter verification, error correction, accessibility for disabled voters, and production of permanent paper records.

Effective date is July 1, 2022.
