Executive director of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks shall be appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate.

Executive director serves a four-year term and is eligible for reappointment, with reappointments also requiring Governor approval and Senate advice and consent.

Governor must submit executive director appointments to the Senate at least 30 days before the regular legislative session adjournment in the year the incumbent's term expires, unless the Senate does not approve, then submission can occur during any regular or extraordinary session.

When a vacancy occurs due to death, removal, or resignation, the replacement appointment is not subject to the 30-day advance submission requirement and serves the remainder of the unexpired term.

Effective date: July 1, 2022.
