Requires any business experiencing a security breach affecting 100 or more Mississippi residents to provide written notice to the Attorney General as expeditiously as possible and without unreasonable delay.

Written notice to the Attorney General must include a synopsis of the breach events, approximate number of affected individuals, information about free services offered to victims, and contact information for the responsible employee or agent.

Entities must provide supplemental or updated information to the Attorney General if the initial written notice is found to be incomplete or incorrect in any material respect.

Designates information marked as confidential that is obtained by the Attorney General under this section as non-public and not subject to disclosure under Mississippi's public records law.

Empowers the Attorney General to promulgate rules and regulations necessary to enforce and effectuate the breach notification requirements; failure to comply constitutes an unfair trade practice.

Effective date: July 1, 2022.
