Contractors holding a current certificate of responsibility from the State Board of Public Contractors may do business in any Mississippi municipality or county without obtaining a separate local license.

Contractors with state certificates must furnish evidence of the certificate and pay the local privilege tax to do business in other municipalities or counties.

No additional privilege license bond is required for contractors doing business in other municipalities or counties if they already obtained a bond where they are licensed.

Contractors cannot advertise as "licensed" unless they comply with licensing requirements and must specify which city or county issued their license or note state board certification.

The act takes effect July 1, 2022, and does not supersede provisions in Title 31, Chapter 3 or Title 73, Chapter 59 of Mississippi Code.
