Licensed employees and teacher assistants in Mississippi public school districts would receive an additional 7 paid sick leave days specifically for infectious diseases requiring quarantine according to CDC guidelines, on top of the existing 7-day minimum sick leave allowance

The additional quarantine leave days would be credited at the beginning of each school year alongside regular sick leave

Unused sick leave, including the new infectious disease quarantine days, can be carried over to the next school year with unlimited accumulation if the employee remains in the same district

The bill amends Section 37-7-307 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 governing sick leave policies for public school employees

Effective date: July 1, 2022
