Increases annual salaries for county sheriffs based on county population: counties over 100,000 population to $105,000; 44,001-100,000 to $96,000; 30,001-44,000 to $91,000; 12,501-30,000 to $86,000; 12,500 or less to $81,000.

Authorizes county boards of supervisors to pay optional annual supplements of up to $10,000 to sheriffs in counties with juvenile detention centers.

Maintains existing mandatory or discretionary supplements for specific counties: Neshoba County mandatory $10,000; Hinds County mandatory $15,000; Leflore, Rankin, Tunica, Wilkinson, Marshall, and Greene Counties discretionary $10,000 each.

Requires all sheriffs to complete 20 hours of continuing education in law enforcement annually through approved courses, with the Mississippi Board on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training reimbursing county expenses.

Takes effect October 1, 2022.
