Expands the definition of "personal care home" to include facilities providing living arrangements for one or more persons unrelated to the operator, down from the previous requirement of four or more persons for "institutions for the aged or infirm"

Requires personal care homes providing food, shelter, and personal care to be licensed and regulated by the Mississippi State Department of Health

Mandates routine inspections of personal care homes by the licensing agency to protect residents' health and safety

Applies to both assisted living and residential living facilities, whether governmental or private, and regardless of profit status

Effective date of July 1, 2022
