Appropriates $7,500,000 from the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund to the Department of Public Safety for death benefits to beneficiaries of law enforcement officers and firefighters who died in the line of duty due to coronavirus.

Provides a one-time death benefit payment of $100,000 to eligible beneficiaries, distributed in the same manner as benefits under Section 45-2-1, including benefits for volunteer firefighters employed by an employer.

Requires the Department of Public Safety to verify that expenditures comply with federal guidelines under Section 602 of the Social Security Act as amended by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and that recipients have not received duplicate reimbursement from other sources.

Mandates the department certify to the Department of Finance and Administration that all expenditures comply with U.S. Treasury Department guidelines for Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund usage and establishes that improperly expended funds must be repaid by the recipient to the state for federal repayment.

Takes effect upon passage.
