Commemorates the 150th Anniversary of The Carthaginian newspaper founded in Carthage, Mississippi in 1872 by L.M. Garrett as Editor-Publisher.

Recognizes the newspaper's contributions to the community through its history of leadership, including early woman editor Singleton Garrett and the Keith family dynasty that led the publication for approximately 105 years.

Acknowledges the newspaper's journalism awards, including multiple Mississippi Press Association Excellence Awards and three Freedom of Information Awards for investigative reporting on issues including the Walnut Grove Correctional Facility.

Honors the editorial leadership of notable figures including Mildred Dearman (second woman editor, Mississippi Press Women President, Mississippi Medalist 1973) and current Editor Waid Prather.

Directs the resolution be presented to Waid Prather and the newspaper staff, forwarded to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Carthage, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
