Commends Science Teacher Shawn Chesser and nine students from East Central High School's Science Club for winning a Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam Grant and being named a state winner in the 12th Annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest.

The team designed a portable, fire-resistant wildfire emergency shelter in response to the fact that 57% of Mississippi's population faces elevated wildfire risk.

East Central High School receives $6,500 and a video kit as a state winner, with opportunity to advance to national competition where seven schools will receive $50,000 in technology and prizes and three will receive $100,000.

Names the nine student team members as Kameryn Bardwell, Madelyn Bardwell, Breland Graves, Avery Rogers, Ann Elise Kuy, Leah Rice, Grant Wilson, Brett Killingsworth, and Gage Goff, under teacher sponsor Shawn Chesser.
