Amends Section 97-37-7 to allow firearms training to be provided by a "state or local governing authority" in addition to nationally recognized organizations and approved organizations

Adds new requirement in Section 45-9-101(2)(m) that concealed pistol/revolver license applicants must receive basic firearms training from a state or local governing authority approved by the Department of Public Safety

Maintains existing alternative pathways for firearms training including completion of instructional courses by certified instructors, military service with firearms training, or honorably retired law enforcement officer status

Effective date of July 1, 2023
