HB1415 Summary

• All public middle schools must provide programs to prepare students for college entrance, either directly or through partnerships with community colleges or other school districts.

• Middle schools must offer career and technical education programs for students pursuing work opportunities after high school, including hands-on training in occupation-specific skills and industry certification preparation.

• Middle schools approved by the State Department of Education to provide career and technical programs in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics receive dedicated funding to operate these programs.

• Programs must integrate academic content with career and technical education and include exploratory components to qualify for career and technical education funding.

• The act takes effect July 1, 2023.
