Expands existing law to allow law enforcement officers employed by state agencies, boards, or commissions to purchase their issued sidearm at fair market value upon retirement, with approval from the agency director

Authorizes the next of kin of any law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty to purchase the officer's issued sidearm at an agreed-upon price determined by the employing governmental authority

Establishes fair market value as the standard price for sidearm purchases by retiring officers, while allowing negotiated prices for purchases by families of officers killed in the line of duty

Effective date of July 1, 2023
