MS HB63

Requires all school bus drivers transporting pupils to be trained and certified in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Applies to both public school district bus drivers and drivers of privately owned buses transporting public school students

Extends the CPR/first aid requirement to charter school transportation drivers, even though charter schools are otherwise exempt from other school transportation regulations

State Board of Education and Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board are responsible for enforcing the training requirement

Effective date of July 1, 2023
