Removes simple assault from the list of crimes that trigger a mandatory $1,000 assessment deposited into the Victims of Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation Fund

The $1,000 assessments remain in place for other offenses including statutory rape (97-3-65), child abuse crimes (97-5-1 et seq.), human trafficking (97-3-54.1), and sexual battery (97-3-95)

Effective date of July 1, 2023
