State Department of Health shall design and construct an Emergency Medical Services Memorial on state-owned lands in or near Jackson to honor EMS personnel who died in performance of official duties and those who made significant contributions to EMS in Mississippi.

Memorial must be completed by July 1, 2024, with design done in cooperation with Department of Archives and History, Bureau of Building, Grounds and Real Property Management, and consultation with EMS organizations and communities of interest.

Department of Health shall form or collaborate with a private foundation or nonprofit corporation to maintain the memorial in perpetuity and determine eligibility of persons to be honored on the memorial.

Foundation or nonprofit corporation shall solicit and receive public and private funding and donations to support memorial maintenance and operations.

Act effective July 1, 2023.
