House Bill 815 Summary

• Amends Section 67-1-5, Mississippi Code of 1972, to revise the definition of "qualified resort area" under the Local Option Alcoholic Beverage Control Law by adding item 51: "A municipality in which Mississippi Highway 340 meets Mississippi Highway 15"

• Allows municipalities listed in items 6, 21, 24-30, 31, 34-39, 46, 48, and 51 of the qualified resort area definition to regulate alcoholic beverage sales by ordinance, including specifying hours of operation, minimum food revenue percentages, and designated sale locations

• Prohibits the Department of Revenue from approving areas as qualified resort areas after July 1, 2018, if located within two miles of a convent or monastery in counties traversed by Interstate 55 and U.S. Highway 98, unless the convent or monastery waives the distance restriction in writing

• Effective July 1, 2023
