Hollis became the first African-American director of Mississippi State Parks in 2022, having previously served as park ranger, manager, park administrator, and director of operations

Graduate of Morton High School (1992) and University of Mississippi, where he played football and was a member of the 1992 Liberty Bowl championship team

Co-founded Friends of Roosevelt State Park with Representative Tom Miles and currently manages Roosevelt State Park, which has won numerous state and national awards

Active community member serving as assistant coach for Panthers High School Football, board member of Legacy Education and Community Empowerment Foundation, founder of Sixth Man mentoring group, and volunteer for Special Olympics
