Commends Thomas Edward (Tom) King, Jr. for 31 years of elected public service, including 19 years in the Mississippi Legislature (House from 1993 and Senate from 2000) and 12 years as Southern District Transportation Commissioner since 2012.

Recognizes King's military service as a Vietnam War veteran in the United States Air Force and his continued service through the Rotary Club, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Highlights major legislative accomplishments including authoring a $300 million bond bill for highways and bridges, passage of the "John Paul Frerer Bicycle Act," and creation of the Mississippi Wireless Communications Commission.

Acknowledges numerous awards received by King, including the 2022 Friendship Oak Award from the University of Southern Mississippi, 2011 Mississippi Municipal League Legislator of the Year, and 2010 Hattiesburg's Veteran of the Year.

Extends congratulations and best wishes to King upon his retirement and directs copies of the resolution be provided to Commissioner King and the Capitol Press Corps.
