House Resolution mourning the death of Dr. Katherine Fokakis "Katie" Patterson, MD, who died on September 4, 2022, from a brief and sudden illness.

Dr. Patterson graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern Mississippi and University of Mississippi School of Medicine in May 2003, and completed her family medicine residency and women's health fellowship at Corpus Christi Family Practice Residency Program.

Established a medical practice in the underserved Mississippi Delta region with Indianola Family Medical Group and South Sunflower County Hospital beginning in 2007, providing full spectrum family medicine care including obstetrics.

Recognized as Family Physician of the Year by the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians in July 2022 with the John B. Howell Memorial Award, and served as an advocate and educator for Mississippi's rural physician workforce and medical students.

Resolution extends sympathy to Dr. Patterson's surviving family: husband David Clayton Patterson, four sons, father Dr. Arthur Nick Fokakis, two siblings, and requests copies be sent to her family, the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians, and Capitol Press Corps.
