MS SB2057

Requires high school graduates beginning in the 2023-2024 school year to correctly answer at least 60 of 100 questions on a test identical to the civics portion of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Naturalization Test.

Allows local school boards to determine the method of administering the civics test and permits students to retake the test until achieving a passing score.

Exempts students who have passed a similar test within the previous three years from the civics requirement.

Requires applicants for High School Equivalency Diplomas to pass the same civics test (60 of 100 questions) beginning January 1, 2023, with the Mississippi Community College Board determining administration methods.

Subjects both requirements to accommodations outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs.
