MS SB2094

Creates new section in Title 25, Chapter 61 of Mississippi Code prohibiting settlement terms between public bodies and other parties from being made confidential by the parties or sealed by courts.

Defines "public body" to include state departments, agencies, political subdivisions, municipal corporations, and governing boards of charter schools authorized by the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board.

Defines "public records" as all books, records, papers, accounts, letters, maps, photographs, films, cards, tapes, recordings and other documentary materials used or prepared in the conduct of any public body's business or functions.

Brings forward Section 25-61-3 containing definitions for data processing software, proprietary software, incident reports, investigative reports, and law enforcement agencies.

Takes effect July 1, 2023.
