Senate Bill 2126 - Restoration of the Right to Vote Act

• Establishes automatic restoration of voting rights upon completion of all sentencing requirements for persons convicted of vote fraud, crimes listed in Mississippi Constitution Section 241, or crimes interpreted as disenfranchising by Attorney General or judicial opinions.

• Suspends voting rights upon conviction but eliminates permanent disenfranchisement by allowing automatic reinstatement once sentencing requirements are satisfied.

• Requires county registrars and election commissioners to automatically restore voters' names to the Statewide Elections Management System, state voter roll, and county pollbooks once sentencing is completed.

• Amends Mississippi Code sections 23-15-11, 23-15-19, 23-15-125, 23-15-151, 23-15-153, and 23-15-165 to implement automatic restoration procedures and remove language establishing permanent voting bans.

• Takes effect July 1, 2023.
