Mississippi joins the Interstate Teacher Mobility Compact, allowing teachers with unencumbered licenses from other member states to receive equivalent licenses in Mississippi through a streamlined application process

The Compact creates the Interstate Teacher Mobility Compact Commission, a joint interstate agency with one commissioner per member state, to administer the agreement and promulgate binding rules

Teachers applying under the Compact must undergo a criminal background check in the receiving state and may be required to complete state-specific requirements for license renewal

Active military members and eligible military spouses receive additional accommodations, including the ability to obtain equivalent licenses even if their current license has certain restrictions

The Compact becomes effective when enacted by ten states and includes provisions for member state withdrawal (with 6-month notice), dispute resolution, and enforcement through federal court action
