• Amends Section 19-23-13 of Mississippi Code to clarify that county prosecuting attorneys may defend individuals in criminal cases in any county other than the one where they serve as prosecutor

• Previously, the restriction was based on circuit court districts; the amendment narrows the conflict-of-interest boundary to only the prosecuting attorney's own county

• Maintains existing prohibitions preventing county prosecuting attorneys from representing defendants in criminal cases within their own county, or providing legal advice against the state, their county, or municipal courts within their county

• Adds gender-neutral language ("he or she," "his or her") throughout the amended statute
