MS SB2230

Amends Section 9-11-9 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 to increase the jurisdictional amount for justice court cases.

Raises the maximum amount that justice court judges can hear in debt recovery, damage, or personal property cases from $3,500 to $5,000.

Maintains the requirement that justice court judges have no pecuniary interest in the outcome of any action once suit has been filed.

Takes effect July 1, 2023.
