Adds "disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity" to the list of protected classes in hate crime penalty enhancement under Mississippi Code Section 99-19-301.

Expands hate crime protections to cover crimes committed because of actual or perceived disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity of the victim, in addition to existing protections for race, color, ancestry, ethnicity, religion, national origin, and gender.

Updates Section 99-19-305 to conform the sentencing procedure language to include the newly protected classes when determining enhanced penalties.

Maintains existing protections for crimes targeting law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians based on their employment status.

Takes effect July 1, 2023.
