Requires all secondhand mattresses sold in Mississippi to have a permanently attached white cloth tag (minimum 6 square inches) visible on the outside covering.

Tag must be indelibly stamped or printed in English with: (1) description of filling materials, (2) statement indicating the mattress or specified materials are secondhand, and (3) original manufacture date (good-faith effort acceptable).

Establishes misdemeanor penalties for knowingly selling secondhand mattresses without required tag: $50 for first offense, $500 for second offense, and $2,500 for third or subsequent offense.

Exempts from tagging requirements: private household sales of used mattresses not purchased for resale, sales by nonprofit organizations with IRS 501(c)(3) status, and sales pursuant to court order.

Effective July 1, 2023.
