MS SB2276

Amends Section 23-15-973 of the Mississippi Code to require judges of county court (in addition to circuit court judges) to provide reasonable time and opportunity for candidates for Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, circuit judge, and chancellor to address the people during court terms.

Maintains existing prohibitions against judicial candidates aligning with candidates for other offices or political parties during primary or general election campaigns.

Maintains existing prohibitions against non-judicial candidates aligning with or supporting judicial candidates, except to cast individual votes.

Establishes that violations result in forfeiture of nomination or, if already elected, the election becomes void.

Takes effect July 1, 2023.
