Establishes that Mississippi line-of-duty death benefits of $100,000 shall be automatically awarded upon receipt of a federal Line of Duty Death Benefit.

Requires the Department of Public Safety to request a deficit appropriation from the legislature at the next legislative session if the Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters Death Benefits Trust Fund becomes depleted.

Removes the Department of Public Safety's authority to adopt rules and regulations for administering the death benefits fund and implementing benefit payments.

Maintains the existing Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters Death Benefits Trust Fund with an initial appropriation of $200,000, invested according to Public Employees' Retirement System guidelines.

Takes effect July 1, 2023.
