MS SB2424

Prohibits municipal executive committee members and primary election officials appointed by the committee from campaigning for, fundraising for, contributing to, endorsing, or supporting any candidate whose name appears on the municipal primary election ballot.

Makes violation of the campaigning prohibition a misdemeanor offense punishable under Section 99-19-31, with mandatory removal from the offender's primary election position upon conviction.

Applies the same restrictions and penalties to temporary municipal executive committee members in Section 23-15-313.

Extends the prohibition to Section 25-1-115 to establish uniform restrictions across all municipal executive committee service regarding support for primary election candidates.

Takes effect July 1, 2023.
