Amends Section 41-21-67 to limit county financial responsibility for indigent committed patients to either a negotiated discounted fee or, if no negotiated fee exists, the Mississippi Medicaid reimbursement rate.

Counties are not liable for any medical treatment costs exceeding the Medicaid reimbursement rate for medical services, durable and nondurable goods, prescription drugs, and medications.

Amends Section 41-21-73 to conform existing law regarding county cost responsibility for persons found in their county but residing elsewhere, subject to the new Medicaid reimbursement rate limitation.

Effective July 1, 2023.
