Increases the number of authorized full-time legal assistants (assistant district attorneys) in 22 of 23 Mississippi circuit court districts, with increases ranging from 2 to 6 additional positions per district.

Expands criminal investigator authorizations for specific districts: Fifth, Sixth, Ninth, Tenth through Twelfth, Fourteenth through Seventeenth, Eighteenth, Twentieth through Twenty-third districts get one additional investigator for a total of two; First, Second, Third, Thirteenth, and Nineteenth districts get two additional investigators for a total of three.

Allows Fourth and Seventh Circuit Court Districts to appoint three additional criminal investigators for a total of four.

Permits county boards of supervisors to fund additional authorized positions if the Legislature does not appropriate sufficient state funds.

Effective January 1, 2024.
