Senate Bill 2673 Summary

• Separates the Mississippi Real Estate Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board from the Mississippi Real Estate Commission to operate as an independent entity called the Mississippi Real Estate Appraisal Board, effective July 1, 2023.

• Reduces board membership from six to five members appointed by the Governor: four from congressional districts as they existed July 1, 2004, and one at-large member.

• Requires applicants to provide only the last four digits of their social security number on license applications instead of the complete number.

• Removes the provision allowing appraisal management companies to remove appraisers from their panel within the first 90 days of hire without cause or notice.

• Extends the repeal date of the Appraisal Management Company Registration Act from July 1, 2026 to July 1, 2027, and directs state agencies to provide transition support for the board's independence.
